Best exhaust system for the buck?
I need a new exhaust system for my car. I still have the original stock system w/ a flowmaster muffler. I'm looking for something that'll sound good with a nice rumble, not obnoxiously race car sounding, and something that is good quality that will last me for several years. From things I've heard before Borla which is a tad expensive & Magnaflow's were a couple of the best. Now what about SLP's Loudmouth 1 or Loudmouth 2 systems? Any others that might be better than these? I'm looking to spend no more than $500 for the system. I will be keeping my current stock exhaust manifolds, and cat. coverter. Opinions?

how bout just a cutout? with an electric plate you can make it as loud or quiet as you want.
but if you want to replace the whole thing...i say its hard to go wrong with the Magnaflow. great sound, great quality, great price, and great look.
to me a borla is a $900 stainless steel cutout. 1/3 of what you pay for is the stainless muffler...which most people bypass anyway. another 1/3 is the tips...which i'm not a fan of anyway.
if your car were a Z28 i would say build your own with a dynomax 3" I-pipe from summit, and a magnaflow 4x9 muffler hidden up under the trunk...with a single hidden turndown.
but the TA looks gay with no tips in the rear bumper slots.

Best bang for the buck would be the Hooker Aerochamber catback. We've used them for years. They flow extremely well and sound great. We have them for about $400.
Thanks,

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm kind of leaning towards the Magnaflow, though I'll have to locate some sound clips of the Hooker Aerochamber system. Does anyone know who offers the best prices on the Magnaflow system?

It was $380 shipped. If you decide to go with the hooker kit I beleive
marylandspeed.com has it for $340 shipped. You should search through
the sponsor's website's at the right. >>>>>
I personally have the magnaflow & I really like it. I first started out with
the SLP LM2 & I got tired of the noise on the highway.
Once I decided to switch, my decision came down to magnaflow & hooker.
In the end I decided to go with the magnaflow because of the stainless
steel construction & the lifetime warranty.
I would recommend the GMMG cat-back, but it's out of you price range.
It was my personal favorite, but it was out of my price range too.

get the rumbler from texas speed. i had that on my 02 with stock manifolds and cats and i just put one on my 99 with LTs and ORY. probably too loud for most with LTs but on my stock 02 WS6 it was perfect. its only $250 and i am very impressed with the quality of construction and fitment. its not stainless but who cares dont drive it into the lake. i'll post a sound clip.

I built a Hooker Aerochamber for $200. I wanted to use the stock tips. I used a Dynomax 3" intermediate pipe with a fabricated flange welded on the muffler end, and a 3" SS band clamp connected to the existing 3" Edelbrock ORY.
