Default O2 Sensors Bad and No Code?

Can the front O2's go bad and not throw a code? I only ask because I just put headers on and switched in new sensors. But my thermostat was apparently bad and I got the P0128 code I think it was, that said it was to cold to go into closed loop. So I've been running fairly rich for a while before I fixed it. So I'm wondering if they're screwed up now because I want to go get it dynotuned. But if they could be bad without throwing a code, I definitely need to change those before a dynotune. Last thing I need is to get a tune based on junk readings. It smells rich to me still, but I also have no cats so I have no real way to judge it. Anyway, I'm just curious if they could be crapped out again before I go set up an appointment. Thanks guys.
