03 lq4 questions
so i have a couple questions... Will the 03 crank work in a 4l60e does it have the same spacer as the 01s and 02s?
what about the 00 f-body wiring harness running the motor is it all the same or would i have to do some kind of a conversion?
i wanted to know before i go buying one and not being able to use it

The crank is the same one as the LS1, just be sure to use the LS1 flexplate. The LQ4 from 99-00 uses a different crank, while the later LQ4 (2001+) backed by the 4L80E used a different flexplate (with a spacer) then the ones backed by the 4L60E. The wiring harness from the LS1 will work on the LQ4, so long as you use the LS1/LS6 (passenger car) intake manifold. The LQ4 long block is a direct bolt-in replacement for the LS1.

Gen3 motors have the knock sensors in the lifter valley and have the cam sensor in the back by the oil pressure sensor.
Gen4 motors have the knock sensors on the side of the block by the oil pan, the cam sensor is located at the front of the engine on the timing cover.
Typically, with the car engines:
Model years up to 2004, LS1 and LS6 are Gen3
The LS2, LS3, L76 are Gen4, these started in model year 2005
With Truck engines:
LQ4, LQ9, LM7, etc ... are Gen3 and are model years up to 2007
L92, LY6, etc ... are Gen4 and started at model year 2007 (yes, they overlap)
On here, it seems that any 6.0L or bigger engine is Gen4.
