will upgrading from 2.5" to 3" Y-pipe on FLP headers help?

Default will upgrading from 2.5" to 3" Y-pipe on FLP headers help?

I have 382 MTI stroker, FLP headers, 2.5" "off road pipes", FLP 2.5" Y-pipe, QTECH cutout just after Y-pipe, and stock SS rear exhaust. Will going to a 3" Y pipe directly after headers (no off road pipes) help much (i.e., worth the $500 or so do do it right)?

A 3" into a 3.75-4" collector would work great. 2.5" is too small for a strong 382.

But then you have to figure out how to get a 4" pipe over the rear axle, as well as deal with ground clearance problems. I've seen that done, but two three inch tubes will flow more and sound better than one 4" and have better ground clearance.

Two 3" orifices will indeed flow more than one 4" orifice...barely. Now, make these pipes instead of orifices and wall friction comes into play. At some point of pipe length, the 4" begins to flow better than the two 3" pipes. Just food for thought. Either will work fine for his application.

Mufflex makes both 3.5" and 4" cat-back systems... also, one 4" pipe weighs less than two 3" pipes...
