Default Header install difficulty (kinda long)

Ok so this is my 1st time doing an install, but Im taking the Pacesetter LTs off and putting the emission ones back on. The LTs were on it when I bought the car. So it took me exactly 3 hrs to get both headers loosened up and take out the passanger side. I did this all without taking off the coil packs or taking out the spark plugs.

Now my problem is, is that the header on the drivers side is getting stuck on the firewall and the k-member. Is there any special thing I can do to get it out without grinding anything off.

I have loosened up the steering column linkage so it wouldnt get hung up there

I am at a loss, PLEASE HELP

Thank you so much in advanced

Do you have the car high enough? You may have to jack that side of the motor up if all else fails. There is a tab on the block that I have heard of people cutting off to gain that little bit of clearance. It won't hurt if you do. I would just exhaust every alternative before cutting anything I didn't have to. Good luck with getting them out.

Jack the engine up, even with all the engine mount bolts in.
I had the same problem when I removed my pacesetters, I was removing them to put new mounts in, with the new mounts they went in no problem.
The reason was the old engine mounts sitting too low.

when i did, i used a 2x4 and placed it on the oil pan on the side you are going to jack upward. the 2x4 spreads out the pressure of the jack so you dont damage the oil pan. then just carefully jack the engine up but not too high because you will eventually start to lift the whole car, thats when damage may start to occur. hope that helps

Ok guys I finished it Sunday and started it up today. I have to say its not that much quieter than when the Pacesetters were on it. Took me 4 1/2 hrs all together to do it by myself for the first time. Wooh!

Thanks for the help.
