Default Can anybody help with UD pulley install.

I'm new to the LS series engineand need advice on installing the the pulley on my 98Z28. I don't know if it is a must but I got the ebay pulley that is identical to the summit pulley. I also purchased the new bolt from summit. Is there any thing else like writeups or any advive ya'll can feed me to help me with the install. Once again thanks guys.

Pickup a balancer installer from 618HAWK. It guarantees you won't screw up the crank or balancer.

you can order the extra long crank bolt from rpmspeed for 6.50 its a good investment sense their press to fit you might have to knock it on and you need to be careful if you use a mallet or a hammer and theres not much room so the bolt just helps you pull the pulley on far enough so the reg bolt can grab and go from there

it takes alot of muscle to torque it down to specs, 240 ft lbs and then 140 degs. i weigh250++lbs and i was hanging on the breaker bar lol. don't forget to install a new seal.

No need to buy any tools, if you have an Auto Zone near you they will let you rent all the tools you need for free. If you can take the handle off the breakerbar and find a socket that will fit snugly and safely over the end of the bar, you can put some extensions on the end it will give you a lot more leverage and make those torque specs MUCH easier to reach. Take your time and be patient, it takes a lot of muscle and a bit of time to get the old pulley off and the new one on.

I just did my underdrive today, and the Autozone in my city, does not carry the proper tool for installing the pulley or removing the pulley. Atleast not for a 02 trans am. I went to pepboys and picked up a 3 arm pulley instead to remove the old pulley.

They didn't have a 3 arm puller specifically for GM cars at my Auto Zone either. But if you ask for their 3 arm Mopar harmonic balancer puller it'll do the job just fine, it's what I used.

What they had would work on the new pulley I just installed. But not on the stocker. Their's was designed to have 3 bolts go thru holes. My stocker does not have those kind of holes. This was the only pulley they had. They didn't have any others. Usually Auto zone has everything I need!

Yep they tried to give me the same one but I had to go back and get one that actually worked

The ones that use the 3 bolts fit most of the pre-LS1 GM crank pulleys.
