Default Porting progress on my used FAST

Got a too good to be true deal that so far looks true. Got it in the mail today and busted it open to have a peak and do some cleanup.

So far I have cleaned up casting flash on the rounded part of the runner and some casting circles on the backside of that piece too. These pics were taken after 100 grit. I went back over it with some 1000 so it feels as smooth as the places I didn't sand again now.

I am waiting to borrow a friend's dremel, then I will tackle the large odd area near the intake ports. Not sure why these were cast this way at all. I will also be opening up the ports some and smoothing the overall transitions.

Also just noticed some small ridges on the top shell that look like they need to go too.

If anyone has any tips or advice I'm open. I will also be painting the top shell semi-gloss black...primer gray just doesn't do it for me. I test sprayed the back corner and it looks like paint will stick fine without any serious prep...just washed it really well with degreaser. Same thing I did on my ls1 intake and it worked fine.

Now I just need a throttle body. Hoping to get one and put this on the car next weekend.

you planning on tunning after the install?

my car ran pretty lean after putting my unit on. had to shut it down at about 4500rpm it was so lean.

I want to find someone close with a wideband so I can check it out, but right now the car smells so damn rich I don't think it's going to be an issue.

Tune is next on my list though.

A dremel makes porting this intake cake, all the runner exits now look like the picture below, removed the large triangular hump and smoothed it to match the rest of the runner, took me around an hour to do all of them including smoothing them with some sandpaper

also painted the upper shell with some krylon fusion semi gloss black because the FAST primer gray look looks like crap to me, once the final coat is on the logo will be painted metallic blue to match the car or silver to match the black/silver scheme I have under the hood

All that's left tomorrow is to port the lower shell openings where the intake meets the heads and smooth the transition between the middle and lower shell...

Just got the tracking number for my FAST 90mm throttle body so it looks like this setup will be going on this weekend.

If it doesn't lean me out too much, I plan on making a trip to the drag strip so I can try to get an idea of a power gain. I don't have times from before but I do have previous dyno numbers.

I might not see as much gain as most because my cam is a mild reverse split (comp 230/224 111+3 on xe lobes) which is supposed to be a crutch for bad intake anyway.

In the future I would like to do mild heads and change the cam to something slightly more aggressive, so that's where this should really shine.

It should be on hell of a step up from the ls1 intake though. Previously my power fell off pretty hard at 5600 rpm and the consensus here is that the intake was the major cause of that.
