A friend of mine was helping me do this, I did most of everything but he broke that part that you're talking about off by accident, I think he was just twisting it real hard, idk really the correct way to remove it sorry. My car is an 02 so its probably a little different from yours

Thats what I was going to do at first, I took some limb pruners and reached back as far as I could and cut the hoses. Then my friend comes along and just magically broke that round thing where the hoses meet right off somehow

I just took mine off last week. The round piece where the hoses meet just slides out, it has a catch on the bottom that if you use a small flat blade screwdriver you can get it out. I believe the bracket is bolted to the back of the head, there were two brackets I ditched on the drivers side one was on the intake and one on the head, the one on the intake just slips right out.

And on the back of the intake there is a T where the small vacuum hose goes to. You can pull off the T and remove the other small hose and reattach it, that is for the hvac system.

It's held on in the back by a 15mm bolt. All you have to do is loosen the bolt and you can pull it out b/c it doesn't circle the bolt.
