Default MAF Ends and Tuning (ported?, polished?, stock?!)

I am having my car dyno tuned next week and the tuner suggested I put my stock MAF Ends back on. However the stock ones look like sh*t compared to the nice satin finished ported onces. Wonder if anyone has any problems running LS1Speed's polished ends and tuning?

Thanks

I had to put my stockers back on too when I was going to tune my car. I just used a really fine grit sandpaper to polish them up a little on the outside. You can still have them look nice on the outside without messing with the inner part of the MAF ends.

I was asked to swap back to stock, too. Apparently, you can't feed as much timing in with ported MAF ends because they usually cause a lean condition and high RPM pinging.

I'm in the same situation. I have some nice TBYRNE MAF ends, and want to use them when I get tuning. Nobody uses ported ends while they tune? I figured that the a/f ratio could be tuned to compensate for the ported ends?

ported ends will work great for tuning. IF you can get the maf transfer function, of air, to voltage/frequency.

That is the problem with altering the maf, nobody to my knowledge can provide a new maf table for a modified maf.

if you can get such a table, sure use it

But as long as the LS1 stays in the dark ages when it comes to tuning, we will be stuck with the stock maf.

Ryan <-- ford guys are WAY ahead of us when it comes to maf options.

Exactly why I didn't mess with the MAF ends. Your changing the transfer function of the MAF when you port them and the PCM isn't any wiser. Thats why people have so many problems tuning after they have ported them.

I just used 3000 grit fine sandpaper and just polished them

Yeah, my tuner said he could make it work with the ported ends--But that it would mean MORE dyno time. I'll pass
