ive got the pacesetters with no issues like i mentioned. just slight rusting around the collectors. ive also had hooker longtubes that were ceramic coated and were happy with those. i dont know why people make a big deal on the rust unless the whole damn header was rusty .

ive seen some used stainless steel $1,000 dollar headers that looked like **** in the classified section.

there were a few threads on here about QTP and Kooks stainless headers having issues with EGR/AIR tubes breaking off. Its a risk with any header, thats why i got rid of that ****. But yeah pacesetters are fine, no issues. If you get emissions legal headers, no matter which brand, watch out for those emissions tubes breaking off.

The pacesetters may rust at the very bottom depending on where you live, but most coated headers stay shiny through most of the engine bay.

Nothing really wrong with them, just make sure you don't scratch off the coating while installing them.

Anyone wrap their Pacesetters? Recommend it? Any moisture problems?

If you get ceramic coated I see no need to wrap. Uncoated headers release more heat into the engine bay, hot air flows better than cold air. The wrap is good for keeping heat and moisture in you just want to keep the heat in go ceramic coated pacesetters race style, unless you can afford stainless.

Tony, EGR I believe stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. I don't believe it pertains to the headers.

egr has everything to do with headers. the egr system takes exhaust gasses from your headers and reciculates it into your intake to help with emissions. race style headers do not have the bung that your egr tubes attach to. if you have to pass emissions tests then you need to buy headers that retain the egr hook ups, if you run race headers you will need to block off the egr hole in the back of the intake manifold.

As for the pacesetters themselves, I had their race style headers on my can for about 2 years and only saw a bit of surface rust. I'm sure somewhere down the road they may become an issue but my thinking was pacesetter headers cost around $400 and last 8-10 years(just guessing here) where kooks cost $1100 and last forever, meaning that in 20 years i could spend $800 on 2 sets of pacesetters or $1100 on one set of kooks.....and in 20 years i'll be lucky to still have my car

Like stated above, Pacesetter headers are great for the money but have rust issues. I have had 3 different sets that were ceramic coated and all 3 of them had slight rust around the flanges and a ton of rust on the collectors after only a few thousand miles. I had a new set on a car that didn't get driven that rusted up just sitting there. Bottom line is, the Pacesetter headers are great headers, just don't expect them to look pretty for long. I will be buying stainless headers for my next setup.

Race headers = regular headers without the EGR dohicky.

So, yes, you can. Expect cats to burn out quicker, though.

FWIW, I have ceramic coated pacesetters on my 03 Z71 Tahoe. Been on for around 2 years and I take it through everything from creeks, to standing water that comes up over the running boards, you name it. My Tahoe didn't come from the factory with EGR so I can't comment on that issue but there isn't a spot of rust on them when I change my oil and the last time was about a month ago.
