modifying headers?

i have pacesetter headers and was wondering if anyone have ever cut off and plugged or patched the air and egr fittings on the headers? i want to free up a little space but dont wanna buy new headers. has anyone ever cut the tubes and left enough of the pipe to thread and plug or cut off completely and had them patched? any pics, ideas out there?

people usually get some sheet metal and weld the hole shut

Id like to do the same but I cant weld stainless, should have gotten race headers the first time.

Cut the AIR fittings off of my MAC headers and just welded them shut. No problems that I can see.

Bring them in to a shop. They should have stainless welding material and I doubt it would cost much to have them chop the fittings off and weld them closed.

thanks guys. my headers are coated pacesetters. what type or material do they need to use and wil they have to remove the coating to weld them? what can i use to keep that from rusting up?
