Foam pads on intake manifolds
Well as for my case, I don't have any weird noise...just that damned orange light in the corner of my eye. We're gonna ****** her off this weekend and re-line the bottom of the manifold with foam and inspect the knock sensors.
if you go to advance auto or a local parts store and order the felpro intake gaskets, they come with 2 new strips of foam. all the ls6 intakes i've been around have had the foam strips on them

Well, we added strips of "weatherstripping" foam to the bottom of the LS6 manifold. Now, the problem is fixed, but as to not mislead anyone:
We broke both knock sensors while trying to remove them for inspection. I ended up having to make a run to the store and pick up two brand new ones. The point is, I'll never know if it was the lack of foam, or actually a bad rear knock sensor that was causing the problem.
I don't know, but the code didn't get thrown till we installed a manifold with no foam strips. I don't think it's coincodence, as I had never gotten a knock sensor code before...yet got one RIGHT after a manifold swap.
So, my final consensus on this issue:
Run foam strips on your manifold and reinstall it. If problem persists, bite the bullet and pick up new knock sensors.

The thicker, the better for this particular fix IMO.
