ive never had an issue with kooks. the easy way to do it tho is to remove oil plug and filter. this will save you a little time.
i have done 1 set of passeters, and i know you mention you dont care about quality, but they where the worst, cheepest crap i have ever seen and i would never install a set again. i did it once, another guy asked me to do a set in his car, i said no, i would not put my name on a crap product.
they fit ok, but in this case, you get what you pay for.

they lasted about 3 weeks befor they started to rust and crack the coating. they do not even clean the slag off the welds, they use the cheepest lightest metal that might hold the heat. IMO they are junk, i would buy mac mids befor i got them. i put one set on and looked at the other set and they looked the same. i am all about good parts, using what works. people want to work on a budget and i 100% understand that however my Rule number 1 to myself was always this
#1 if you cant buy the good parts the first time wait a week, 3 weeks or a year till you can afford them, do not cheep out.
and so far that rule has paid off for me and every car i have built.

pacsetters go in good. Ive installed a lot of them when I worked at new era on lifts. I htink I did one set of the gound when the shop was packed. One trick was to make a little more room on the passanger side heat sheild. The collector gets close. There a good new header for the price, but they will rust and look like ****. Most only last a few years, if somone keeps then they rust out near the colletor. Ive installed every other set. and ARH are the easist and better fitting to other parts on the car. Ive installed mine a few times on jack stands alone. they are still in the same shape as when I got them. its worth it.

Tip: Go stainless and be done with. If you get coated, after a couple of years you will not be happy with coated.

Hey thanks a lot once again guys. My friend with an 01 Cobra put in Mac LTs and he apparently had to remove his K member and I don't want to have to do all that if there's something easier out there, and from everything I'm hearing, it all sounds pretty easy, so yay for f-bodies, even if the engine can't be pulled from above like my 88 Camaro haha.
And I have LM exhaust right now with High-flow cats and I love it. To be completely honest, I wish it was louder most of the time, so when I install headers, I will probably gut my cats (I have O2 sensor simulators behind the cats). But, to each his own, you know, that's just me.
Just to et you know ecspecially if you do not run cats... You will NOT like the sound of your exhaust in the long run! The lm1 is wwwaaaaaayyyyyyy tooooo loud and obnoxious, just ask anyone who has them.. Just trying to let you know if you alredy didn't. I hear if you have the modular slp kit then the powerflow sounds real nice! And by the way I do like the sound of the lm1 on any car that has otherwise stock exhaust. JMHO

i just put a set of Kooks Headers and Y-Pipe with Cats on my 02 SS. it already had the Loudmouth 1 on it, and i LOVE the sound, it's really not much louder until you get on it IMO. cruising around in 6th gear it's not a bit louder than it was with just the Loudmouth. mine went in very easy as well, i didn't have to force them in at all. i didn't have to take the oil filter out either, they were not even close to hitting it going in.

Ditto - wait on gutting the cats until your hear the difference betweene long tubes and your stock exhaust manifolds. There is a huge difference in sound after installing LT's.
Dont know what Noyzee is talking about. My Pacesetters have been on for two years, Ive driven thru snow, rain etc with them. Summer months, winter, and they still look nice and coated and shiny.

my buddy just ripped his out as well. his where 4 years old, but had no coating left at all. he put kooks on. picked up good MPH as well with his swap, and the one set i installed new about 2 years ago has been rusted for a year now and the owner is looking into swapping them this fall. car is kept inside 50% of the time and only sees rain if he gets stuck in it. i can only tell you what ive seen, and as most people know im not blowing smoke up anyones ***.
