Default porting a weiand intake

well, the time has come to plumb the DP, and i've heard things about porting and short-ning runners for better top end. has anyone done this sucessfully and was it worth the effort? im going to port match the intake to the heads anyway, and have the tools so thats no problem, i guess im really wondering about shortening the runners more than anything.
