Default y pipe vs. true duals with dumps

Hey, guys I was wondering if changing to true duals with dumps would make my cam sound any different? I currently have mac headers with a offroad y pipe through a flowmaster crossflow muffler. My brother said it would sound like two totally different camshafts I currently have the X1 cam. He said that the y combines the exhaust notes and changes the sound. Is this true? Thanks in advance.

Yes, he's right, it will sound better with the duals. It also makes the cam lope harder when you reduce the backpresure in the exhaust system. That Flowmaster 80 series is probably really choking your X1 cam.

even if you changed with some LT's, ORY and a better catback your sound will change.

the duals will sound awesome, im am really contemplating dumping my catback system in favor of a true dual setup.

my buddies car, his mods: I have a comp cam 221/227 561 569 114, jet hot LT, lanes duals with x pipe. lid, filter, S3 TB, PT4000, a lil spray

i love that sound
