Default Aftermarket Lid Hose Question

Howdy,

I have a 2000 SS M6 with 59k and have a question regarding the aftermarket airbox/lid.

Lately, I have seen some pictures showing a hose plugging into the aftermarket air box on then right side when looking from the front of the car. What exactly is this? When I installed my lid, I used a small filter to plug a larger line that was no longer needed.

Thanks, Shawn

It's for the A.I.R. system, most guys do the same thing you did with the filter

Just to confirm yes it is apart of the AIR system. The hose takes air that's been filtered to the air pump, which is then directed to the exhaust manifolds.

Yeah it stands for Air Injection Reaction. The air pump injects air into the exhaust until your cats heat up to 600 degrees and can function .
