Whining noise -- fan on startup
Whining noise -- fan on startup Hey guys,
Recently when I come out and start my car first thing in the morning, I hear a high pitched whining noise coming from the front end (driver's side). It sounds like the fan cutting on -- even when the motor is cold to the touch.
After the motor warms up, sometimes I'll hear the sound for a couple seconds and can simply touch the gas and it'll turn off. Any thought as to what this could be? If it's the fans, what's the best way to test them (I apologize for my technical ignorance).

X2 on the AIR Pump. The motor is housed behind and below your left headlight. Its used on start up to pump fresh air into the exhaust until the cats warm up. Its worth about 20 lbs of dead weight at the front of your car.
Thanks for the info on this. I'm already running an off-road y-pipe with my headers setup (hence, no cats), so is there any harm to simply pulling this out? Any trick to pulling it out?
Not certain, but if your Air Injection is still plumbed into your headers, you will have to tune it out before disconnecting so you won't throw codes.
