best exaust for catless header set up

I have an aftermarket SLP dual/dual on my heads and cam T/A no-cats w/LT's - no rasp and it's quieter than my wifes 02 Z28 with a cat-back when warmed up at idle. Of course when you get on it's loud and w/cut-out open its LOUD.
I'm planning for another SLP dual/dual for 91 RS LS1 swap.

I have the Magnaflow catback, stock '01 manifolds, Bassani ORY and it's a bit much for my taste. At WOT it's aggressive bordering on abrasive. Just went on a cruise w/ Norcal-LS1 last weekend and the guy running behind me (who had his cutout open) said it was loud as hell - sometimes it souded like a machine gun.
The 5" round Borla XR-1 arrives today and will reside in my I-pipe to hopefully calm some of the rasp without introducing any backpressure. Any deepening of the note will be a bonus.
