JETHOT LT's need some help/review looking to get some jethot longtubes, and wanted to hear from some people who have had them, how is the:quality, fit, and sound, and performance gains? looking to add them to my magnaflow |

I'm pretty sure you've already seen all my vidoes on youtube, so you know what the Jet Hot's sound like with at least three different catbacks. Fitment of the parts is awesome. I don't have any other brand to compare to, because I've only installed the Jet Hots. But I've heard of so many people having to notch their K-members in order to gain clearance to prevent rubbing. Others have written about having to cut the flange in the middle, so they can line up the bolts that mount them to the heads. Nothing like that with the Jet Hot install. On the two Camaro's I've done the driverside was a very tight fit when putting the header in place. But with a little persuasion they do get where they need to be. On my Firebird, the driver's slid right in and the passenger did the same once I got the car high enough. Like I said, I'm very happy with the Jet Hot's fitment. The only thing I'm a little dissatified about is these parts, with their wonderful coating, are already begining to show surface rust. Dave's car has had them installed the longest amount of time (a little over 4 months and about 1100 miles) and his have the most. His car has also been driven the most. The only moisture these parts have seen is carwash water. No rain, no salt, no snow. They still look alright, it isn't like they're rotting off the cars, but I guess I was expecting them to stay nice looking for much longer time. Mine have probably 300 miles on them and are dull looking. I made the mistake of using the Engine/Tire setting at the carwash on the engine bay while the exhaust was still hot and the degreaser baked to my headers. (DAMNIT!) So like I said they are no longer shiny, and have just the slightest bit of surface rust on them. My brother's SS has maybe 150 miles on it since the install and his headers still look great, but his y-pipe is becoming tarnished. Again only from the carwash water. I understand, they are not stainless and are not going to last forever. So be it, but next time I'll be going with American Racing Headers and their catted Y-pipe. Thats all I have as for the quality of the parts. I have much more to say about Jet Hot's Customer Service that I will post when I have a little more time. Just be patient with me and I'll do my best to get something posted ASAP. |
oh wow he has that much rust already with only car washes?... i might have to go stainless then, cause the part of jersey im in (close to the delaware river)gets alot of rain usually at least once every 2 weeks and some times for a few days in a row so maybe i may be going with the 1 3/4 ARH and catted y so i wont have to worry about my headers falling apart lol |
Okay, continuing what I started earlier about Jet Hot's Customer Service/Relations... I posted this thread in the Sponsor Feedback section in Febraury of this year, praising the WS6Store for helping me deal with Jet Hot's fucking around. It's a lenthy read, but it explains most of the troubles I had getting what I needed from Jet Hot. https://ls1tech.com/forums/ls1tech-s...-you-guys.html Also, when we ordered Dave's Jet Hot ORY from byunspeed, I mistakenly ordered an LT1 ORY instead of the LS1 ORY. Once I shipped the wrong one back to Jet Hot through the USPS for $60, Jet Hot told byunspeed that the Y-pipe I had returned was the correct part for a 98 Z28 with an LS1 and they were not going to pay to ship it back. Byunspeed then notified me of what Jet Hot had told them and asked if I still wanted it. I told byunspeed we made every attempt to make that piece work, but it was incorrect and was not going to happen. Fortunately I had made a video of Dave's new exhaust next to his disassembled factory exhaust and in it you could see the incorrect Y-pipe. I posted it to youtube for Jet Hot to view. I also posted a video showing Dave's car with the already mounted Jet Hot headers and how the Y-pipe we had received would in no way work with the way the LS1 LT's are positioned once installed. (The passenger header exits straight back, while the drivers collector faced to the side of the car at about a 30* angle. You will notice this on any LS1 header.) The LT1 ORY doesn't compensate for the angle on the driver's header. So once Jet Hot viewed the video, they agreed to send an LS1 ORY. But because the Y-pipe I wanted in the first place was no longer being produced, we had to settle for a Pacesetter ORY that Jet Hot was kind enough to coat. (This Y-pipe worked fine. We ended up using it on my brother's car with minimal issues. But it still wasn't what I had wanted in the first place.) It was a giant pain in the ass. A few weeks ago I was looking up exhaust and found my Jet Hot Catted Y-pipe for sale at Speed Engineering. Thinking this piece was discontinued, I emailed them and this was their response: > From: info@speed-eng.com > To: colterfrederick@hotmail.com > Subject: RE: Email from Speed Engineering > Date: Fri, 19 Jun 2009 09:08:50 -0700 > > I wouldn't even bother with Jet Hot right now to be honest with you. > They're so back assward over there its ridiculous. Every order we place with > them whether they say its in stock or not is taking months to ship, and half > of the orders are incorrect. I am dealing with one of their screw ups today > actually. > > Sean Anyways, I'm sure, by now, you get my point. Sorry about the novel. I just wanted you to know my experience with them wasn't the greatest. Their parts are cool, but there are some things with Jet Hot that are definitely lacking. I'm kind of dreading the possibility of having to contact them about any warranty issues with these headers and Y-pipes. I hope this helps. Good luck, man. |
