Default noise after header install

car is a 02 SS, installed Hooker long tubes with ORY. now at certain times while accelerating the car makes a flutter type noise and somedays its louder than others? Any ideas or is this normal for headers?
Thanks.

Did you use AIR restrictor plates? Might want to search on that topic, most LT's need them to keep the AIR check valves from burning up I think.

Is it possible that the gasket didn't seat properly and you have an exhuast leak at the header?

flutter? does it sound like all the heat shealds are ratteling under the car all at the same time or is it like a popping noise.
rattle= rasp= add bullet mufflers before main muffler
popping= hole some where neer header

Not a popping noise more like a rattle. when driving I hear it more on the driver side of the vehicle. does not resemble an exhaust leak to me. thanks for the replies.

my vote is check valves if you still have your air system hooked up.

if it only happens at certent rpm ranges under load then i think its rasp. it happend to my car. i installed mac midlengts and it sounds like a monkey hitting a tin can at 2500 rpm under a load. at first i thought it was the heat shields ratteling at first but it persisted after removing most of them later i found out that the raspy noise was commen with headers and is easily solved by throwing in a couple of bullett muffelers... i havent bothered to fix it yet.. im getting more lazy and the probablem is becomming less annoying.

Mine does that as well. I think it's more commonly know as the dreaded piston slap, notorious to LS1's. I'm gonna try to go from 5w-30 Mobil 1 to 10w-30 on the next oil change to try and remedy the issue.

Just curious. I have what i think is the same noise after a header install. I changed both check valves after creating two restrictor plates sandwiched between 2 AIR gaskets. The opening is 3/16." I still get a flutter under heavier acceleration tho. Any thoughts?
