Default Is coating worth it?

I want to hear everyone's thoughts on coatings and if you believe they are worth it. I've had headers without coating before and was pretty pleased with them. I want to know if coating justifies the extra $80.

Opinions with reasons would help me make my decision the most.

where do you live. if its a place with alot of weather varience then i'd say its a must. the coating will keep the temps down, ward off rusting, and it just flat out looks cool .

Temps really is the only issue, it appears that they don't do a lot for lowering temps.

on the contrary. to test yourself go drive your car for a few hours and then let the car cool for 10min. or so. then put your hand on the headers. do the same for a header that has been coated and you'll feel the temp difference. its your money though, if you dont want to get the coating then dont. but there will be plenty of people here that will tell you to get it.

From my experience it is absolutely worth it. I noticed MASSIVE temperature differences after having the head pipe on my bike coated. That means less leg roasting at lights.I can only imagine what it does in an enclosed engine bay.

The stuff still looks as good today as it did over a year ago when I had it coated.

I will not hesistate in the future to have things coated as long as they are done by a respected company.

I was just going to ask what kind of coating you get for $80.. probably not much.. I had a local powder coating place do their high temp ceramic coat on some pipes on my supra when I had it. It was fairly pricy, and the coating within 8 inches of the turbo turned from the shiny polished look to gray paint look. It didn't come off thouh.. Hard to say how much it helped with heat though. I'd say with an $80 dollar job, you're mostly getting rust prevention. Are they coating the insides as well? If not, you'll possibly rust from the inside out... Hell, it's cheap enough though.. might as well go for it. If it comes apart, maybe the company will help you out with a warantee. My thoughts are, do a 304 stainless uncoated.. but that's not too available for every application

$80 is pretty cheap. However I don't think it means the products is definitely inferior. It should cost less for the manufacturer than you or I because they are dealing in large quantities. They probably have the facilities in house or they send out quite a few of them to another shop. Economy of scale I guess.

Jet-Hot charged me $150 for my headpipe coated inside and out.Considering the benefits I think it was well worth it.

just for the sake of how much the coating smooths the inside of the header, and transition to collector is worth it, same concept at a smooth exhaust port.
Lowering under hood temp is always a good thing, and i think someone mentioned how nice they look (provided you dont leak oil all over them), and how well they hold up to the weather,

I guess the question may be, is the Pace Setter coating worth it?
