Default headers

Has anyone put slp headers on and had problems with them touching the ground. send some pics if u have any. thanks

I have SLP headers on my car...and to answer your question, they ALWAYS touch the ground...I don't have any pics of the ground clearance, but I can assure you that it sucks! I have to back out of my driveway diagonally and speed bumps are an adventure!

Are hookers better as far as that goes and do they sound as good as slp.

please help me i want to get headers but i want to get good ones. i have heard that the hooker are good but i heard slp was better and help would be great. thanks

Ive had SLP headers on my 00 ever since they came out and can tell you that they DONT always touch the ground. If that were true then you wouldnt be able to drive the car otherwise headers would be scraping everywhere you go every minute and thus wouldnt last very long. If you plan to lower your car or already is then no I wouldnt get the SLPs. Yes they can scrap but on a normal day to day basis they dont.

To be completely honest with you I plan on getting headers for my 02 soon and its not goignt o be SLP. Not because they suck or because they scrap every second, its because SLP sucks ! They are a PITFA to deal with. I'd say they have the worst customer service ever but they have none whatsoever. Truth is most headers give equal numbers. Some people gain more with one brand while others might not get as impressive numbers. SLPs also arent that cheap.

Just something to think about.

i have hookers, my car is lowered, and i have the hooker ory pipe......i LOVE the ground clearance of my exhaust, and my car has been lowered with eibach pro-kit springs. couldn't ask for better quality form a header for the price at the time.....

to be honest though, nothing against hooker, but if i had to do it NOW, i would go with the pacesetter LT's coated, and the ory. they are direct replica's of the hookers, and cheap.....good fitment flow, and so on.

what kind of system did you run with the hookers and why pacesetter. are they that much cheaper then hooker.

i run hooker lt's w/ a ORY, a electrc cutout in the I-pipe, and the aero chamber muffler in the back

I LOVE my system. the hooker is quiet cruising,but very strong sounding at WOT, and with the cutout open......ITS over, that is incredible!!!!


i have the best of both worlds right now. the only reason i say go with pacesetter is they are identical to a hooker LT w/o the extra $$$ of a hooker header....

ORY for pacesetters-$124

those are some sweet prices

i read that they dont, but im not too sure. from what i read they say they get more than they do but im not sure. i ordered some pacesetters the other day from TSP prices are suppose to go up after nov 30th, i think....under 500 bucks i have headers, extentions, ypipe and a free tshirt on its way with shipping cost. hookers or jet hots are from 540-630 i think, just for the headers! maybe thats why the price is gonna go up?

no, slp gets worse numbers on average compared to the pacesetters or hookers

like rene said, most LTs's dynoe within the same range of each other. your not gonna gain 20rwhp by swapping from one LT to another LT. what you pay for is fitment, coating, clearance, quality, ect. when slp came out they were one of the first on the market, but now there are alot better choices and the slp's dont look as good as they used to. especially for the price they charge for them 800+ :thumbdn:, better off getting kooks/qtp for that range.

it's all gonna depend on if you have springs or not, I choose to go w/the Macs and have the ends cut off and Have MTI do a custom Ypip for me so I could put on some ProKit springs and not scrape every pebble I went over.....

i have pro-kits with hooker lt's and their 3" ory. i have almost 0 problems w/ ground clearance.

JRP-exactly the same thoughts as me. i completely agree with that statement

if you want a great top of the line header and wanna pay for it, i think kooks are #1 right now.


if i had to rank headers for myself for what i'd want(not swimming in money and all)....i'd go
1)pacesetter
2)hooker
3)QTP and kooks

FYI-alot of times you can find some good lt's in the for sale section of this forum that would be perfect for your wants....

Don't some guys complain that the ones that don't hang as low as the SLP's have the y-pipe hitting the floor?!

it all depends. fixing a Y pipe banging is alot easier then fixing the header collector scraping on the ground.
