Default Crossmember and Y Pipe?

I have longtubes and an offroad Y and was just wondering what people did with there crossmember. I hammered mine into a shape that would fit with the ORY but it smacks against it when i hit the gas. I hate the noise !! So i decided to take it off and was just wondering what other people did? My ORY isnt tucked perfectly snug but its sits pretty good. It sits about a 1/2 inch lower than the stock pipe and hits the crossmember !! I know that I dont really need it but just to be safe? ahah

I dont think I will worry about it being off but just wondering.

mine is no where near the crossmember, and i actually left my exhaust on when i just did my tc install.

the normal fix for you would be poly motor mounts, the motor wont shake as much under acceleration which will make it stop hitting the floor

I think he means the tunnel brace. I took mine off, and I plan to replace it next week with a lakewood driveshaft safety loop.

Depends on which y-pipe you have. They are all different. I have a Pacesetter y to match their headers and everything fits like stock, nothing touches and my tunnel brace fit fine. A friend of mine has the Pacesetter headers and a Texas-speed y-pipe and it fits poorly, we had to remove his tunnel brace and now a driveshaft loop will not fit. Same headers different y-pipe, what brand stuff do you have?

Mine also hits with the big flowmaster Y collector, It only has 1/4 inch clearance even after I grinded off the lip on the front and back to gain a little room, It only hits on big bumps but it's still very annoying.

I too removed mine...but I plan to replace it with the Lakewood piece. The lakewood unit bends upwards into the tunnel, allowing for more room for the Y-pipe or in my case the Flowmaster Merge.

I loosened everything from the headers to the tail pipes, jacked the exhaust up to nearly hitting the tunnel, then retightened everything since I have the ball flanges and let the jack down. It has about 1/2 inch clearance now with the outside lips grinded down.

Yea i mean tunnel brace sorries. Thanks for the input. My setup is in my sig / I have edelbrock victor series longtubes and y. I was thinking about getting the y pipe bump stops just to having something holding it in place.
