Mufflers?

Mufflers? I have the mods listed below and want to get rid of the flowmaster muffler. I have the single in/dual out and want to be able to just get a weld in replacement. Which would be the best for my setup. The flowmaster sound3ed nice when car was stock, but wityh upgrades, it sounds like a honda squeal at high rpms. Just want one that will sound/flow better. Are hooker the best for the price? How is the sound? Anyone have a sound clip they can put up? I want that deep rumble like that found on the older cars (Nova, Chevelle, etc.). Thanks for the help guys. I love this place.
P.S.-The tuning will be done before the new muffler goes on. Will this make a difference or screw up the tuning?

let me help answer your Q instead of giving you a VOTE based on what i was suckered into buying.
sound/flow better = i heard everything except a stock exhaust is better then a flowbastard. i heard even the Ws6 muffler is better or comparable in flow.
are hooker the best for the price? = depends on your personal value system for balancing quality and price. it sounds nice. not too loud, a lil deep, and is fairly uncostly. hard question to answer for someone else.
deep rumble found in older cars = the best sounding old cars i have heard use long tube headers, independant dual or h pipe, and chambered straight-through exhausts. i am not sure *exactly* what you mean by older, but that is what i think sounds best. so far there is only one company that makes a chambered straight-through catback sys for the fbody and that is GMMG. however, they know they are the only ones, and will charge you accordingly.
find someone who has that exhaust and listen to it.

Stone of Fire, you are right abouyt the sound I am looking for, but I cannot afford (not that I don't want) the true duals. I am looking for something along the lines of just getting a replacement muffler instead of a full catback. All the piping is new from the headers back, but need a decent muffler to put the gasses through to get em out and sound good while doing it. As far as the magnaflow, do they make a muffler only? I like the pipes and tips I have so I am not looking to replace all of that. Thanks for the help guys.

yes they make the magnaflow muffler only, its bout 100 bucks. do a search for magnaflow muffler as there was just a thread a week ago and it has the part number you need

i am tempted to steal this one magnaflow from this one paisa that has a shop in east los. $100 is still too much for me. i couldnt even afford the cutout. i unbolted after the y, but put it back because montebello was fixin to tar and feather my car.
