Default Strange oil leak...

Every once and awhile ill get a small drop of oil under the car, No big deal I can live with that... But every once and awhile it will be a 2inx2in puddle under the car. It has only done this 2 times, Once was when I was getn my windows tinted in the guys garage. I thought it was maybe from the car before me. But them I came home lastnite and pulled into the driveway and could see that from where I backed the car in the other night there was a bg 2inx2in puddle. So now I know its my car, but its just weird for it to drip ocasionally and then puddle randomly. Both spots the car has been parked on a level ground so. I havent had time to put it on a lift but figured id shoot for some places to start.

I got that same problem.

Like the TXZ28LS1 said, oil pressure is fine and all my fluid levels are good as well.

Could be the rear main seal?

Im unsure. I cleaned the entire undercarriage of my car a few days ago. Hope I can find where that tiny leak is coming from.

If you did a long tube header swap, check the oring at the base of the dip stick tube..or if youve ever removed it. Had this problem for about 2-3yrs before my lazy *** finally located the problem and fixed it, I never had a noticable oil spot for a long time, but I had a very light film of oil on my oil pan all the time

Without a better description and general location, we really can't help you, but to join in on the bitching about oil leaks.

You failed to tell us where or what general location your are finding your oil drops from. put some fresh cardboard under the car and then wait fo the oil leak to drop on the cardboard. then start searchig around that location.

Engine seal (front / rear)
Trans seal (front / rear) Dextron fluild
power steering lines, rack/pinon, cooler, etc
Trans lines

What color is the oil, if it is even oil ? Could be coolant, trans fluild, engien oil, power steering, rear end oil, ect ? even AC PAC oil ! ?

Default Oil leak ?

If your strange oil leak ( If it is engine oil ) is near the area where the block meets the trans (A4 or M6) Don't forget about that stupid freeze plug in the back of the crank !

This may explain why sometimes it leaves a puddle and sometimes not. Depends on how the vehicle is parked.

Mine was seaping just enough to soak the clutch and a pesky little drop every now and then !

Take a look @ the metal gasket that is located directly abobe the oil filter. I had the same problem. Remove the ( 2 ) bolts and gasket, clean it good install a very light film ouf black RTV and torque it bakt to 28 ft lbs, and you should be good. that fixed my problem. Good luck with it.

my 17,000 TA does it to. Ever since I did the cam swap last summer. The whole pan is wet. Every now and then it'll leave a small puddle.

Lt1formula94 Yes it did. Has not leaked any since then. I can't say for sure if that is your problem. But it sure fixed mine.

Front of the trans is wet, all I can see from the side of the car not having it on a lift. It happened again today and it is definetly oil but when I dipped my finger in it, it didnt seem like regular oil and it also hasnt soaked into the driveway yet a week later. It seems kind of thick. What kind of oil is in the trans?

Im debating going back to the dealer I bought it from a month ago bc they changed the clutch right before I bought the car and they told me they will warrenty it for 6mons and if it was a oil leak I would think they would fix it. Im wondering if its the trans

Have the shop that installed the new clutch take a look at the rear main. Sounds as if it may be leaking. Could of been damaged during new clutch installation.
