Default Headers and AIR question...

Got a question for some of you modding gurus... anyhow, I just received my Pacesetter headers from Texas Speed, but they don't have any provisions for my '01 Z28's AIR system, even though I ordered a set with them. Now, if I wanted to keep them, can I just eliminate the hoses for the AIR pump but keep the AIR pump itself functioning?

The reason I want to keep the AIR pump there is that in order to pass emissions, you have to have the code in the PCM for the AIR pump... if you simply delete it and remove the pump entirely, the emissions people will get a "Not Ready" signal from their computer when it's plugged into our OBDII port.

So if at all possible, I would like to keep the pump functioning, but remove all the hoses for it... just wanted to know if that would be possible without hurting anything, and is there anything I'd have to do to modify the pump (block anything off, etc) Thanks guys!

Can you do it? Yes. It may throw a code after awhile and the car may not pass with a SES code anyway. You'd have to route the hose someplace else because the pump will want to pump air from time to time. I suppose you could pull the hose that runs up the driver's side fender and cut it off short where the pump is. Other than that, there's nothing to block off really. It's pretty straightforward ripping it all out. Why not send the header back and get the provisions for the AIR? Much easier to do and you can retain the function of the AIR since you need it for emissions. If you're keeping cats, you may want to consider keeping the AIR system intact.

That's a good point... it may not be worthwhile to pull the AIR hoses out since I wanted to keep the emissions devices intact anyhow. Thanks for the reply!

Now, anyone know how to go about getting a new set from TSP? Anyone had to do this before?

i bought mine through summit and just bypassed them and went through pacesetter...but...you might want to try the tsp route as they know what their doing im sure...pacesetter got my header wrong the second time so i had to wait even longer...im sure tsp could check the box and seal it back up if need be that is if they have any more of the air equipped ones left.

This link may help.

I am blocking mine off when the lgms go on.
I'll block off the headers, but i'm not sure what to do with the additional AIR connection.

How/What if it connected to (the pump?) do i disable that or remove a fuse?

I got an email back from Jason at Texas Speed... they offered to call tag these headers and send me out the correct ones, which I'm gonna do... gotta give the big thumbs up for Texas Speed's customer service!
