Starting Problem Alright so my alternator died recently and I replaced it, the car worked fine for about 2 weeks. So recently when I go to start it I will hear a click and lose all power like the alternator is out. But if I wait an hour or so and try it again, it will either start or do the same thing. Any ideas on this? The car is a 2001 z28.
Your engine not turning over or starting has nothing to do with the alternator. Its a battery or electrical connection issue to the starter.
Sounds like you have a bad battery.
But check these things first.
Check for corrosion build-up on terminals and cables.
Could also be a broken battery cable.
Ground wire could be loose.
