lq4 block question
lq4 block question I picked up my LQ4 w/out a starter, so I picked up a F-body starter. When I crawled underneath the car to put it in this aft, there is a tab on the side of the block with about a 1/2", maybe 5/8"ish hole in it. There is another one a little closer to the front (towards the balancer) There arent any on the drivers side. Anyone know what these are for, and will it hurt anything to trim it back to clear the starter body?????

Ya, mines an '01. I trimmed it off today, cut it w/cut-off wheel and then blended it in nice. Put the starter up, "inside" bolt (closest to block) lines up, outside bolt is about 1/2 a bolt hole diameter off. WTF???? 
I bought the starter from another member on here, said it was out of a F-body...... I didnt think the starters were different........ anyone have any ideas??????

Oh and to add, all of this just adds to my day that started yesterday...... Let me rant for a second!!!!
Day started off cool, the better half and kids are on there way up north to her parents for the weekend, no plans for me but to lock myself in the garage..... UPS shows up w/my "new" rack, (remember its COOL out) Lift the hood and turn around to grab the jack....... slide the jack under the car, as I kneel down in front to line up under the kmember....... well when I bump the kmember w/the jack, the F@#$in hood falls, hits me in the back of the head, and smashes my face into the core support......... Im seeing stars, nose EXPLODED, bit through my upper lip, busted my bottom wide open, and knocked my 4 upper front teeth loose!!!!!!!!! I think the only thing that kept my teeth in was my retainer........... havent been that mad in a LONG time!!!!!!! funny now, but not yesterday!!!!!
