Starter Problem!!
Starter Problem!! I have a TSP 408 in my '02 Camaro and we just did a tranny swap from the stock T56 to a TH400. We put a SFI-approved LS1 flexplate on the car and everything lined up and went in pretty smoothly! My problem is this: I have a stock starter in the car and it has troubles catching the flexplate. If it doesn't catch, the starter just free spins. It doesn't grind or sound like its hurting anything. If it does catch, obviously it starts the car. Sometimes the starter seems like it doesn't have enough power to turn over the engine, but it always ends up starting. What do I need to do to eliminate this issue?? I'm assuming you are asking about the flexplate.....I ordered one for an ls1 so I would think so. Got any idea how many teeth it SHOULD have??? After inspecting the flexplate, it doesn't look like it is hurting it when the starter DOES engage. However, it doesn't look like the starter is fully engaging the flexplate teeth (only about half way in on the teeth)
