Unhappy waterpump on the way out? help!

hey guys i got a question.
ok car has been running hoter than normal even on the hwy i have a 180 t-stat thats new and i also cleaned out the radiator and condesor and got out all the little leafs and crap out of it when i put the new t-stat in(car with oem stat was running hot with the ac on so i cleaned it all out and put in the new 180 statmy cars a 98 so its suposed to have the more true temp gauge and with the oem stat it would stay right at the 1/4 mark between the 160 and 210 mark and with the 180 stat it stays between the 1/4 mark and the 160.
thing is if i get stuck in traffic or just going about 50-60-mph it will start to get warmer like a little past the 1/4 mark and even if i get to speed up it wont go back down.
the fans are set lower so is my wp on its way out? its not leaking or any thing but i had a car do this before and it would slowly get warmer and warmer till i swaped the pump then it was fine.

Start with the easier stuff than the water pump. Are you sure that your coolant system is completely free of any air? Also what radiator cap are you running?

stock cap and it has been about a month since the t-stat swap and i have driven the car at least 500 miles and even made some passes at the quarter track and it was fine so i would think all the air was out

Did you run it with the Heat on, remember the heater core is nothing more than a small radiator. When you change out the t-state you will drain the heater along with the engine (the heater core is connected to those 2 lines that come off the t-state end of the waterpump) you need to run it with the heat turned on and let it cool with the heat selector turned on a few times, this should get all of the air out of the cooling system, keep the overflow tank topped off, and if your radiator cap is more than 2 years old replace it. buy yourself a hand held tuner that gives you the true temp as given to the PCM from the temp sensor, because the stock temp gauge is only a suggestion of the true temp. Good luck!
