It should be a direct replacement. I've done it and it worked out great.

p.s. do a good set of heads...

Is the 383 motor way better then the stock ls1 with head cam intake. My cam only ls1 made 400 to the tires.
How much does a hci 383 normaly make?
If I buy the motor from Texas speed it will come with heads and a cam.
Is the ls6 intake too small for that set up?
I'm going to have a bunch of questions on that set up.

well all you're doing is boring and stroking the cylinders of a ls1 block....so why wouldn't external parts bolt up?

that's like asking if your contact lenses will still be correct for your eyes after you get gastric bypass surgery.

how much an engine makes depends TOTALLY on the cam and heads.

it could range from 425hp to 525hp...and everywhere in between.

the advantage of a stroker is that you'll make better torque compared to stock cubes. also you can run a bigger camshaft and still remain "streetable". basically a cam that would be radical in a 346ci motor would be pretty tame in a 383ci due to displacement.

only real way to compare your motor now to a 383 would be to assume you use the same heads and cam.
so if you made 400rwhp and 380rwtq on your stock motor, you could probably figure you'll make 425hp, and near that on torque (410-420).

realize those are just guestimates

Yep! Everything will bolt back up to the new short-block. Heads/Cam, accessories, etc, will work on the new block. You can buy the short-block from us (basically the block with rotating assembly) or you can purchase a long-block. (short-block w/ heads/cam, timing chain, oil pump, lifters, pushrods, etc.) Depending on compression, just the cubes alone should pick you up 25+ RWHP. That number can go higher or lower depending on how aggressive the heads/cam setup is on top of the motor.

Give us a call or PM with any questions you have. We can get you fixed up with everything you need!
