Default LS6 Intake Question

I have a guy that is selling an LS6 intake and fuel rails for $300. The intake seems to be in good condition.(Seen it in person) Does that seem like a reasonable price?

My car is a 99 TA so it doesnt have the LS6 intake, and I was just wondering if going to the LS6 would help that much?

My car has a 584/584 lift cam in it, long tubes, 3 in. exhaust, MTI lid, and stiffer valve springs.

I was thinking that the intake would help quite a bit as far as helping out that cam.

Just wondering if I would see much of a horsepower gain or not. If I can get about 20+ RWHP from it then I'll be glad to pay $300 for it.

Thanks.

Sounds like a good price to me dude.

Go look through the classifieds on here and look at what people are asking for them. Usually they wanna **** you for $325-350.

Alright cool guys thanks alot, yeah a .4 second gain is pretty damn good for a bolt on upgrade.

Anyone happen to have any numbers on HP gains they may have got?

Ya $300 is a good price, and the ls6 will make power on its own and will also help feed a bigger cam and heads if those mods are in your future. Make sure to replace the gaskets before you install it. http://www.speedinc.com/cont.cfm?cid=C0000723

Cool thanks.

One more thing, I'm sure that I will need to take the car and get it re-tuned after the install?

you dont HAVE to get the car retuned after the intake, it will maximize your gains, but as far as driveabliity goes you wont notice a difference. I didnt get mine tuned until i did my heads and cam a couple months later and everything still drove fine.

I gained 17whp by switching from the LS1 to an LS6 intake, no other mods and no retuning. That being said, I do suggest you tune it for the changes made (imo software should be everybody's FIRST purchase), it's the only way you'll get the most of your setup.

if you have the ability to do the tune yourself then just do it, or wait untill you NEED a tune.

i agree with VTC tho. everyone should buy a tuner program. for the cost of a few tunes you can buy your own, plus make a little side money doing other basic stuff.

Well I have a guy that will do the tune for 25 bucks, because he has tuned my car a few times in the past, so I'll just take it over to him.

BUT I'm definetly going to save up some money and take it to the dyno and get a solid dyno tune, I've yet to do that with this car. Just done little HP tunes.

I plan on installing the intake tomorrow I'll let you guys know how it does.

I'm hoping its going to improve my 3rd gear and top end alot.

I paid $300 shipped for my LS6 Intake from this sites classifieds. So I'd say $300 with fuel rails included is a great price.

I'm in the middle of installing the intake, an LS6 Valley Cover, and a Revxtreme Catch Can, right now. I'm hoping the weather holds out a little longer so I can drive at least once with the upgrades before putting it away for the winter. *fingers crossed*
