Default Motor Re-Installation

Getting ready to put my new motor back in. Will be going in from the top. My question is what is the easiest form (shortblock, longblock, longblock minus intake, etc.) to install the motor in. Also, I have heard mixed stories that the flywheel can't be on when going back in from the top. Can anyone clarify this? The flywheel was on when I took it out and had no clearance issues. Thanks in advance. I know going from the top isn't the choice for most but it worked at the time. Mods, please move if this is in the wrong section.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like I will go ahead and bolt the heads on while its on the stand. Any idea about the clutch in addition to the flywheel?

You can re-install with the flywheel and clutch... It is also easier if you have the heads on when installing the motor. Everything else will bolt up relatively easy after the motor is in place. I have done at least 10 in the last 2 years and never had a problem doing it this way.

Cool, exactly what I was looking for - Good information from people that have done it before. Looks like I will only have to put on the intake and misc. accessories while the motor is in the car. Thanks again for the post.
