Default Stainless steel vs. Ceramic coated Headers?

is there any advantage for the stainless steel headers (kooks, QTP) over other ceramic coated headers (jet-hot, Pacesetters, etc)?

Coated headers will rust.

Well the stainless won't rust. That was a major factor for me and why I ordered the Kook's stainless; we get a pretty good amount of snowfall every year. So location plays a factor.

The coated will help keep underhood temperatures down though. If you click on the Jet-Hot site ------> they give you some good info. Then again, it could just be some good marketing

For long term i would choose stainless steel. Stainless steel also performs just like the coated headers would as it helps cut down on engine temps. Either style of headers will perform great.

Thumbs up

Yes, stainless helps keep temps down as well and more importantly helps keeps temps more even throughout the whole system, or so I hear.

A good grade of Stainless steel (304) will keep the air temperature even in the primaries.. If you take a look at a set of mild steel/coated headers you'll see 'hotspots' because the heat is uneven throughout the headers.

Stainless steel will also turn a bit of a bronze/copper color after the first time they get hot. We hand polished my set of Kooks and they look great.

Bottom line: stainless will not rust.
