Question A little help for the new guy

Hey guys, new to LS1Tech, I've been doing some research and all kinds of crazy things are goin on with my car. I had some wiring issues or something going down. I was driving my 98 Trans Am and the electrical started going whacky. When I would turn on the blinker, the gauges would jump, I watched my battery slowly drain, and obviously I assumed it was the alternator, so I checked the battery, and it was bad, replaced it. Got an alternator as well. Replaced said alternator. Now, it's still the same deal no doubt. So I've been told it's possibly my ground from the block to the frame. And it's supposed to be above my alternator. But I can't seem to find said ground. Anybody have any other ideas? I have checked all the grounds directly from my battery and they are all good... So, this hiding ground could be the beast. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated!!!

I know there is a ground on the passenger side of the block, just above where the starter is located. (I remember disconnecting it while installing my Poly Motor Mounts.)

I can't say for sure this will solve your problem, but its definitely worth taking a look at. Good luck.

Alright, I tracked down every wire on that beast today coming from the battery, the alternator, or the starter, and I also got to put my starter together... Had a friend helping me, he decided to take it apart instead of just pulling it out. Oh well, lessons learned huh? Anyways, that was a b. Got it back together and in, tracked my grounds, all good. The only thing was the ground cable (silver braided) on the right side was touching the alt bare... So there's a chance that that was my problem. I'm taping it up tomorrow and putting the alt and battery back in, and going again... Heeere we go.

Well, taped everything up, no luck... So now I'm looking to take her to a shop and let the pro's take a whack at it... She'll be up for sale shortly after I'm pretty sure...

Weird, it definitely sounds like a ground issue, but given that you have checked everything apparently it isn't. Any chance of added wiring for anything on the car? Anything aftermarket which may be contributing to the issue?
