intake help
i have a 99 ss with the stock ls1 intake. my buddy bought a intake awhile back that was on a corvette dont know what model or nothing. i was hoping someone could tell me where to look on finding out if it is the ls6 intake or not. thanks
Not true, I've pulled LS1 intakes off of C5's that didnt have EGR. im not sure if they are all like that or just certain years but that isn't a fool proof method.
I would say if you have the intake loose(not installed on motor) then the easist was to identify it would be spending <5 seconds turning it upside down. taking the numbers to the dealer is a hassel and uncalled for.
if the bottom floor area in the middle between the ports is flat(it will have a raised checker design to it for strength) its and LS6 intake.
if the bottem floor has a wave length wise to it then you have an LS1 intake.
I've decided to make it even easier, here is a comparison pic. the one on the right is the LS6. sorry about the size.
