Default magnaflow anyone?

in the coming months im doing a rebuild with heads n cam. right now i have pacesetter longtubes and ory with flowmaster. due to emissions ill be getting a highflow catted y pipe and am planning on a new exhaust system. looking at magnaflow. anyone with a cam have mangaflow? and how does it sound? also will most catback systems hook right up to a pacesetter y pipe? im assuming so.

why not keep the flowmaster and make a decision after you hear it with the cam.

The catted Y will change your sound aswell.

I had a cammed LT/ory/magnaflow catback setup and I think it sounded great. People say magnaflow is quiet but with those mods it's definitely not. Now a catted y will quiet it down some but I don't think it would be that much.

I love the sound of my magnaflow, they sound great with a cam too. Not a big fan of flowmaster tho.

My lt/ory/magnaflow setup with a cam only car was WAY too quiet, IMO. I now have an lt/ory/magnaflow setup on my 408 car and it's quiet at idle but makes some noise at WOT. Not near enough for me though.. e-cutout for the win.

thats one thing i do want. while i dont want a car that is obnoxious when it idles i wanna be able to hear it and know there is a cam in it. from videos on youtube tho cammed cars with magnaflow do sound pretty good. its gonna be between that and borla though most likely. if i had the cash id be going with corsa tho.

and yeah my flowmaster sounds ALRIGHT when your on the throttle but it just has a weird pitch to it and its a 50 series so it aint that loud and idle you have to be almost right behind it to tell its an aftermarket exhaust. time to move on the something bigger n better

I don't have a cam or heads but my exhaust set-up is Pacesetter LT's, ORY, with a Magnaflow cat back. I love the sound but I added a DMH cut-out so I could make it louder if I wanted. The cat back was on the car when I bought it in 07 and I don't plan on changing it unless someone gave me a GMMG for free!

agreed man!! ive got a 230 size cam, longtubes, ory, and magnaflow and it is very quiet. the car is not obnoxiously loud or unbearable to drive. it has a smooth, crisp sound. but i think i would opt for something a bit more louder like a corsa or maybe GMMG.

I hate how quiet mine is despite running the v2. Not sure how much louder Lt's would be over mids or how much louder a magnaflow catback would be compared to a stock catback with magnaflow replacement muffler.

I will tell you though if you don't want it to be obnoxious loud then you don't even need to think about borla or corsa. You might want to look Hooker aerochamber, SLP Dual/Dual or the magnaflow your looking at.

I am agreeing with above post. Quieter more tame sound is magna, slp dual/dual, and hooker areo, but they all still have great flow numbers, just as good, if not better, than the borlas and other lil louder setups. Its all about preference but if you add a cutout in after the ypipe, you can then really open it up and it will sound MEAN AS HELL! Good for track use too for the upper RPM's

is borla really that loud? how much quieter is it with the plates in? and does it still sound right with more sound coming from one side than the other?
