Intake! Help! I was wondering what the best combination, horsepower wise, is for intake/exhaust? I just slapped on Loudmouth, and I was thinking intake is next. I was told go with a Direct Flow Lid, SLP Cold Air, Holley Power Shot or K&N filter, SLP Smooth Bellow, and throw on a Y-Pipe and MAF. Is this the best combo? And what y-pipe and MAF??? Thanks for your help!
All lids yield about the same hp wise. I would say go w/ a TSP lid. I think they're very well manufactured and fitment is perfect on mine. The SLP cai isn't bad, but i think the FTRA or the SSRA is far superior. As for the bellows, you wont see much hp w/ that, pretty much an apperance mod. Keep your stock maf, they flow good. Unless your makin gobs of power. You could just pop the screen out of the stocker, thats what i did. The stock y pipe flows good too. Not much hp to be made with an aftermarket one, mostly sound. Especially if you do longtubes later you'll be kicken yourself in the *** for wastin your money on a y. Get your lid, filter, cai, maybe some lt's, and with your loudmouth you'll be off to a good start. If your an auto best bang for the buck is a torque converter. Good luck.

Which one? It seems to me the FTRA sounds best, but they recommend a LS1 Motorsports Direct Flo. Should I go with them or would the TSP work just as good? I dont plan on getting LT's for a long while, so is a Y-pipe worth it since I am not going to get the LT's? Thanks again!
I would do the lid(MTI,TSP,wisper ect.not a fan of SLP)Filter,free ram air mod(cut out under box,same power as the ram airs that cost $$),An MAFT to tune A/F instead of a new Mass air(no gains).
I installed a Bassini Y-pipe (no Cats) on a 00 car and we gain 15hp/10tq peek and some real good torque down low(as high as 35lbs)

if i were you, I'de get:
LS6 intake manifold (if your a 98-00 car)
LT's: Edelbrock, pacesetter, and hooker are all affordable, or find a used set
3" Ypipe for the LT's if they dont come with one
cutout....maybe add a QTEC
keep your stock bellows, or buy the $15 version thats exactly like the SLP bellow
Stock MAF, maybe descreen

IMO, all that money spent on Intake stuff would be better spent on LTs. Free Ram Air mod + LT's = best initial money spent. Then you can save your pennies for intake stuff. Just my $.20. Good luck!
