MSD 2 Step 8733 and 98's
Well I've run into kinda of a confusing situation, I was hooking up my MSD 2 Step part number 8733, when I got to the activation wire it has two options, either ground it or give it 12V when you want it activated, well seems like on the 98's, then don't have a CPP switch with 4 prongs like the later models, 98's have the start switch like the later models but only a cruise control clutch anticipation switch with two prongs, one is black with a white strip and one is pink, well I put a test light to them to see what would happen, well with the key on the pink is always hot weather the pedal is up or down, but the black with white strip is hot only when the pedal is up when you push the pedal down no more voltage.
Now my question is if I hook my blue activation wire up to the black wire on the switch will this work or will it do something else when I have the pdeal up and there is 12V there again, the white/blue wire is the wire you use on the MSD unit when you want it to activate on 12V, which per instructions says hook to clutch switch which will see 12V with clutch depressed of course. I think I'm right by hooking it up to the black wire but just want a second opinion......

Take a test light and hook it to 12v power on the wire end of it. The take the test light and put it on the wire you think is a ground. If you push the pedal down and the test light lights up it is a ground. If the light is on all the time it is grounded all the time. If it doesnt light up no ground. without a wiring diagram that is the only way I know to find ground.

Figured it out...ended up hooking the activation wire to the blue wire on the 2 step and then hooking it to the Purple/white wire on the lower 2 wire clutch position switch....works great now.
