What exhaust to get?

After long research on multiple boards and in speaking with my exhaust professional I am going with the following:

Hooker Stainless Longtubes
Patton Catted Y-Pipe
Flowmaster Cat-Back (Currently installed)
GMMG Cat-Back (future replacement for the Flowmaster)

I suggest not jumping into any decisions, hasty ones can be unnecessary and expensive learning experiences.

Then I'm moving on to my suspension.

You're still gonna have a lot of pop and crackle with a flowmaster, specially if you throw a cam in there or run no cats. The Hooker Aerochamber catbacks sound good, they almost eliminate the pops.

I made a list of catbacks if this helps at all. I personally like my stainless Gibson, I don't have any sound clips though.

When I bought my Z it had BBK shorty headers with the stock Y-pipe and the cheaper Borla Exhaust. Removed all that and replaced it with Pacesetter LT headers with a ORY-pipe and SLP LM1 exhaust. Ran that till a few weeks ago when a got a good deal on SLP SS cat back system ( muffler & 2 resonators). Made a big improvement in performance and in the sound department.

Like I said, you're gonna get a million opinions, and exhaust is matter of taste, so really its up to you. Quiet to one person may be beauty to another as well as obnoxious loud to some may be music to another's ears.

Magnaflow Catback seems to a happy medium between the quiet and loud aspect of exhaust notes. A friend and I installed LT's/ORY and Magnaflow on his Z28 and it sounds great. Very nice quiet tone at idle and the real muscle car sound at part and wide open throttle.

I have SLP's Loudmouth Catback matched to LTs and a catted Y-pipe on my 99 Firebird and its ******' loud. It has some rasp to it when I get on the throttle but not too much for my taste.

Then my brother has a 35th Ann. SS that he ordered with the optional SLP Dual/Dual Catback. It's pretty quiet and remained so even after we added LTs and an ORY.

I had a SLP loudmouth and loved it until I put longtubes, off-road y, and a cam on it, then it was getting too much negative attention. I switched to a Magnaflow and love it, really a great balance. One of my friends has a Magnaflow with no other mods and it is as quiet as stock at an idle, and not much louder when he's on it.

I agree, the Hooker Catbacks that I've heard do sound great. I'm sure the OP would be more than satisfied with it.
FYI-It is a much better merge than their old Y but it is not a FM merge.

Hooker Aerochamber CB is kind of exotic sounding but not terribly loud except at WOT. It was downright quiet when I was stock but is pretty loud with my 9.5 * overlap cam...

I think SLP is waaaaaaay more raspy and poppy on a mustang than an LS1 I absolutely love SLP on LS1s if you dont mind loud it is the best sounding exhaust ever IMO and surely performs better than ANY catback out there. I had to switch to Magnaflow though because the local fuzz gave me too many exhaust tickets for my car being too loud haha! I really like the magnaflow alot too. I don't care for Borla or flowmaster at all. If money isnt and issue and you dont want a car as loud as SLP you could go Corsa also.
