if its the stock intake that came on your particular car, then yes it is an LS6 intake.

all 01-02 LS1 cars got the LS6 intake from the factory. easiest way to tell...

does it have EGR?

yes.....not LS6
no.....possibly LS6

if you look between the valley cover and the intake....

is the bottom of the intake flat or does it have upward curves to it on both sides?

flat....definately LS6
curved.....definately LS1

they never had the LS6 "engine" only the block. and the only advantage is the "windows" cast into the main webbing to allow the crankcase to breathe front to back. IMO, i see no advantage to this on a stock vehicle.

these blocks were used in the Z06 that was designed for road racing where i can see it being useful when you have 6 quarts of oil being slung to each side of the oil pan and back and forth and what not at high rates of speed. this would allow the oil to escape across the main webs insted of traveling up the cylinder and back down on the crank and back and down and back and down. it can cross into the other main and back to the pan.

this is my thought on the LS6 block, not gospel

you dont even have to take it off, you should be able to eyeball it. if you can find someone with a 98-2000 car that has the LS1 intake on it, and compare the two. to me, thats the easiest way to learn to tell the differences between things.

we can sit here all week and tell you what to look for, but untill you have it right in front of you to compare, you wont truely understand it.

just like an engine, you can read books and look at pictures all day long about how everything inside it works, but the lightbulb inside your head wont light untill you tear one apart and see exactly...
