Well a wideband tune will help but it wont be required. Just your car wont be running as well as it should. The computer will compensate a little bit for the bolt ons but people run Lt's and intake etc. with stock tune.

Ok so bolt ons is not really necessary to get a wideband.
I'm thinking of adding a pair of ls6 heads (have 853s now), will the computer compensate as well or will the wideband be required?
I want to add a cam later down the road, and i am not really sure if the heads will be worth it on a stock cam.

Your best bet would be to find someone local with a wideband and have them scan it with the wideband just to check. That way you'll know for sure if you need it or not.
The 243s are easily worth 15-20rwhp on the stock cam. I would run a thinner gasket as well to help get your CR up and lessen your quench height.
