Default Poly motor mount install????

when doing the poly motor mounts on a fourth gen can i get away with not dropping the front stub? or is it not worth the hassle trying to do them with the motor still in the car.

you DO NOT have to drop the the front K -member.with all exhaust removed ,remove nuts from bolt thats goes through the stock motor mount.use a jack with a piece of wood to jack up one side of the oil pan.remove bolt and motor mount from that side.drill out clam shell rivets .use wire wheel on drill or grinder to clean up inside of motor mount shell.install new motor mount inserts and bolt together the shell.use locktite on all bolts.make sure tranny mount bolt is removed to allow engine to shimmy around.mite have to enlarge trans crossmember bolt holes to align up bolts.

I am going to be doing a Poly Trans Mount & Poly Motor Mounts. I was quoted $300 to have it done at a local performance shop.

you can do it without dropping the k-member, just have some universals handy!

The only thing I removed was the alternator, and I loosened the PS pump. And maybe the steering link IIRC. Alot of people have trouble getting the long bolt back in. I really didn't. I did one side at a time, and I put a jack (with a piece of wood) under the oil pan, and operated the jack with my legs while I used my hands to line up the long bolts and they slipped right in.

if you take out the mount and pedestal together you dont have to worry about taking out the 18mm MM bolt......slide it out as 1 piece.........my .02
