Is the Corvette worth it?
Buy the Vette from dad? I saw you started fixing it. Ask him if he's interested in buying a Ferrari yet? Just a few years and you can buy it cheaper
First, the oil pan gasket leak. The transmission DOES NOT get removed with this repair. A lot of the front suspension has to come apart but the transmission stays where it is. Here are the GM eSi instructions on replacing the gasket. One important thing to note. A lot of guys do not follow the torque settings as recommended by the service manual. This is very critical in this repair. If you over-torque the bolts, you can crush your new oil pan gasket and cause it to leak again. Of course, you won't realize it until you put all that stuff back together.
The seat issue is a lot simpler. There is a module on the side of the seat (behind the piece that the seat handle comes out of). This module has gotten water in it and it takes forever for it to dry out. He's probably killed a battery with that thing wet and finally disconnected it or pulled the fuse. I an electronics guy so I would just takes it apart and clean it. However, if you replace it, the seat issue will be fixed.
The oil pressure being pegged is a common issue. I posted a write up on how to replace it right here. Get those items fixed and you have yourself a working Corvette.
