Which ls6 intake to use?
I have a ws6 2000 TA and i am looking to change my ls1 intake out for a ls6 intake. My question is are all the ls6 intakes the same no matter which car they come off of (Ex: caddi, camaro 01-02, TA 01-02, corvette,) Will they produce the same horse power and serve the same purpose....any info is helpful!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

any LS6 intake will work but since you have EGR you will either...
1. Need to pick up a SLP LS6 intake w/egr provision
2. Remove EGR, get tuned out, block of exhaust manifold and purchase any LS6 intake without EGR of course.
You will also either have to cut the ribs underneath the manifold for your LS1 coolant lines to work or pick up LS6 lines
...oh and I'm sure this will get moved to External

Hey dude, I bought a new SLP LS6 intake with the EGR provision. I ended up removing the EGR system from my car and plugged the EGR hole in the intake with a freeze plug. So I bought a new one from SLP Performance. Maybe you could find an '01/'02 Camaro/Firebird LS6 intake at the boneyard, or you could buy a new one with or without the EGR fitting. Also you sometimes see them for sale used in the classifieds, especially from the people who switch to FAST intakes.

I did. I wasn't about to cut on a $300 intake plus I like to do my installs right and clean. I also replaced both knock sensors and the valley gasket cause it was leaking in the front a little bit. To each his own, I'm just a tad **** about stuff like that. Not saying your a half *** mechanic or anything, so don't take it like that. Just sayin I'm one of several that have bought the lines for ease of installation is all.
To the OP, you can usually find a used LS6 in the classifieds from $250-$300. The LS6 coolant lines are optional, but I've said my piece on that.

I read in multiple threads that not using the ls1 coolant lines can cause the #7 cylinder to run hotter, and therefore possibly detonate. I think doing it the right way is leaving the ls1 coolant lines in place... im not about to chance it over some stupid fins on the ls6 intake.
