engine/trans removal questions....
engine/trans removal questions.... What is the easiest way to pull the motor and trans out of a 2000 Z28, while removing the least possible number of accessories and other stuff off of the motor? Any pics, tips, etc?

Drop the engine and transmission out the bottom. I am leaving out all the details. But you have to remove the transmission crossmember (4 bolts on auto) and 6 bolts that hold the k-member in. Of course you end up removing a lot of other little stuff. It all depends on how you want to do it.

You could yank them out the top in one piece if you wanted, just would prolly have to take the hood off if its the stock hood and jack the front of the car way up to allow for the tail of the trans to clear the ground.
as for the motor, i'm not sure about accessories like a/c and what not, but you could get the motor itself out by just yanking the intake/fuel rails/coil packs, etc and leave the everything else including valve covers I imagine. best place to put the chain is in the heads anyway. if the exhaust manfolds are stock could prolly leave those,too..
I'd pull the water pump though to be safe and of course the radiator, condensor if you have it, etc. but pulley and what not should clear ok.
