Default Just headers ?

Originally I planned on a headers + cam combo before the snow melts here in CT. It looks like only one of the two mod's is going to happen before summer. Is it worth doing just the headers ?...... Kooks long, Y , & cats.

Headers work nicely on an engine that still has a stock cam.

From what I have seen it's only about 15-20 HP with a tune. $1000+ Makes me angry.

Some guys have been seeing 20-25hp without tuning while there have been some cars that only picked up 18-20. We dynoed a local guy's C5 after installing a set of TTS long tubes. That car picked up 23hp with the stock computer.

Headers are a great mod to do, before or after the cam. I'm doing mine after, because I never really planned on getting headers, but I want more out of the cam... I will probably be going with TTS or MAC headers, hoping to see 25-30rwhp from the headers, should help the cam really flow.

Ya, I heard Pacesetters are great headers, but some have quality issues. I would be weary of a set that is THAT cheap, compared to the FLP's and TTS headers which are nearly 4x as much. Don't get the Pacesetter y-pipe though, biggest pile of trash ever. It looks like you are wanting Kooks, great headers, you won't be disappointed.

I can't say too much bad about the y-pipe, it rasps less than my old mac y-pipe did. It fits pretty nice. The only hitch was unhanging my catback to get it to slide on to the I pipe.

when it comes to headers chep is chep..... you only want to do this mod once....
DONT go chep... you want them to work and work well..... and you want them to last
even if you change cars...... a good header can go from car to car.... you go hooker or mac you might get three years out befor they worp or brake.... so go with the FLP/or SLP spend the money you will love them....
and a must must do mod....... it is a win win power and sound..... nothing better.

Headers/catted-y-pipe is a great starter combo, just plan ahead so you get the correct set-up. No need to do things twice (if your going for h/c combo you may want stepped headers). I have Kooks 1-3/4" stainless headers into a Kooks catted/y-pipe. Their quailty is second to none, and the performance gains are incredible (results of course will vary). I put down 335rwhp/345rwtq with only the Kooks headers/y-pipe and a SLP Loud Mouth on a 98 SS, and it sounds so sweet. good luck

The pacesetters are not built cheap. Many of you are fooled into thinking that low price=junk. If I was going to do the headers again I would definetley go with coated pacesetters again.
