ARH Long Tube Headers
Don't bother with the 1 7/8 if you aren't going to modify the car past basic bolt-on's. 1 7/8 are for big motors moving a lot of air, a bolt-on 346 really doesn't need them, torque is what you feel, hp is what you see on the graph...what is more important to you? Even if you are going to do heads and a cam, keep the 1 3/4's.

I have driven both and 1 3/4 feels better. I'm not saying that peak hp isn't higher on the 1 7/8...b/c it is for sure, but they just feel weak driving at low to mid rpm.
I'm a power under the curve guy, not a peak HP guy, so I say the 1 3/4's are better. I started with Grotyohann headers in 2000, and switched to ARH 1.75's about 2 years ago maybe. Re-dynoed and found a little HP loss in the upper end. But the ground clearance was much better. I had a Powermaster starter which was physically incompatible with the ARH design, so I had an unexpected $230 cost to add a stock starter during installation. If you want peak power, the QTP's have longer tubes and seem to offer better power up high.
If you're going to be tuning with a wideband, perhaps consider having them add a dedicated wideband bung. I had it done in both collectors.

That being said, around the 500 rwhp mark I would expect it to help a bit.

Guys, finally got my headers - they arrived this morning and I'm due to have them fitted on Thursday. I'm was sure I'd seen an ARH install thread on here that was pretty detailed and included photos but I can't seem to find it now. Please can some one point me in the direction of a good install post so that I can print it off and show it to the mechanic who'll be fitting them.
I know that sounds crazy and that I should be going to someone who's experienced at fitting LT's but remember I'm in the UK, so even the few places over here that specialise in american vehicles won't have done many header installs before - they seem to do just routine servicing mainly.

Hi i just have installed ARH LT´s 1 7/8 to my 99 transam and it goes quite easy... just take old ones out and new one in there.. make sure that you can get car high enough cause its much easier to install.
Take out (driverside) steeringwheelaxel!
I`am from finland and done this in my small carage whit jacks so its not so easy but done
Only problem i have is driverside y-pipe.. its not going in to headers so i have to figure it out somehow
