Default omg please help, cutout problem

installed slp y pipe ''2.5 inch and slp lm2 catback 3''
anyways went to install my qtp cutout, i placed it rite before the resonator the only problem is the cutout is 3'' it fits sideby side with the resonator the way it should but when i then attach it to the ypipe the y pipe goes inside of it then when i try to clamp it down it wont tighten even remotely close to snug. i believe this is becuz the ypipe is 2''5 and the cutout is 3''.... how to get this to work? i dont believe buying a 2.5 cutout will do the trick cuz then it will be the exact opposite, will go good with the ypipe but then be to small for the resonator......

I didn't read your post very well since it's written in "chat speak," but you definitely want your cutout to go in the I-pipe, which should be 3".

I'm going to move this from the Pontiac Firebird 1967-2002 forum to the exhaust forum since it will get three times as many views there and this post has nothing at all to do with Firebirds specifically.

Yep. If it is a 3" cutout, it should go on the I pipe(right before the axle is a good spot )

go to autozone or a muffler shop and get a 2-3/4" to 3" adapter. stock exhaust size is 2 3/4".

The cutout flange is not going to buckle with a clamp. The I-pipe i believe had two slits cut into the end that the y pipe slides into.
