best spark plugs for LS1
#25
I used NGK platinum, but I think AC Delco Autolite also work very well
I think that before installing the spark plugs you should do the following
Check battery condition and alternator ....
Cleaning, lubrication and good connection of coils and wires ....
Good Tension band with pulleys
Tighten strong positive and negative battery
You should always have continuous 14.x or 13.9volts
If you have a bad charging system .... Some sensors operate at 80% or less, then the air-fuel mixture will be bad or not good

I've always ran the tr55 in my ls1's, and tr6's in my ls2 builds due to the higher compression of the ls2.
I want to try the tr55ix iridium in my ram to see how they perform.
The Iridiums have a much finer tip and have the same spark pattern everytime, making them more consistent an accurate vs a standard plug. On a high compression suzuki LT250r quad I did a back to back plug install of a standard ngk to a iridium version, I did notice the bike seemed to have better throttle response. When I pulled the plugs the standard was a tad on the light brown side, then iridium was more on the gray side denoting a leaner condition as if it was burning more fuel. I didn't notice and power increases if there were any, i mainly noticed it gave the bike the abilitly to rev quicker. I have no clue what these plugs would do for the ls1's but I think I want to try them out at least.

neat comparison, 3 hp on a bike is quit a bit

the reason the tip is able to be smaller is due to the higher melting point of the iridium electrode. Seems like these would make a car more consistent. In theory of course

Can't remember where exactly I read it (some thread on here I think), but a few years ago GM changed their recommended gap size from something like .060 or .055 down to .040. I believe that was a response to complaints of rough idling. That's maybe why some people say .060 or .055 and others say .040 and the manufacturers have different presets. The AC Delco iridiums I got were preset to .040 and I left them at that.

I've ran tr55's in every gm vehicle I've had, that a tr55 would work in.
Never rely noticed anything outstandingly better about them other than they're dirt cheap.
On a side note, I did have a tough time believing that my 28k mile NGK plugs were causing a heavy load missfire that my '02 5.3 silverado. I changed them last week to a fresh set, and the missifire dissapeared

Launching!
I've got a 20% cash back 'deal' available from my bank with Advance but would need to order these TR55's Ship To Home because they don't have them for Store Pickup.
Advance has them as "This product doesn't fit any of your saved vehicles".
Which I'm fine with ignoring, but would like to know if there's different thread sizes or lengths that might end up being definitely "This product doesn't fit any of your saved vehicles"...
It's a mostly stock (mild cam) '06 5.3l.
NGK won't even 'talk' about them on their website anymore...
Thanks,
-Kyle
